A private-equity company, Cerberus said it would revive Chrysler rather than strip it and flip it, but that promise struck some skeptical analysts and the United Automobile Workers as Gordon Gekko redux.

Chrysler vehicles to have advanced power systems

It would be powered by an electric motor and lithium-ion battery link-ed to a small diesel engine. Chrysler envisions that it will get more than 110 miles per gallon of diesel fuel and have a long range between plug-in charges.

Chrysler Ends Production of Ill-Starred Crossfire

Chrysler officials confirmed the end of production for Inside Line and noted that the Crossfire’s demise will not be marked with any ceremony. The final Crossfire off the production line is apparently bound for obscurity, too. “There are no plans to put the final vehicle in a museum,” said Michele Tinson, a Chrysler spokeswoman, on Thursday.

Honda Strives To Surpass Chrysler as Minivan Sales Leader

Chrysler indicated there have been two reasons for Dodge’s performance. For one thing, the company eliminated about two months of production as it switched in the fall to the new minivan models, squeezing overall supplies. Second, Dodge eliminated the short-wheelbase Caravan model with the reconfigured minivan platform, cutting itself out of a significant portion of sales to consumers who preferred them.

Slow Start for Chrysler’s Minivan Launch

It’s not all bad news for Chrysler. Sales of the more luxurious Chrysler Town Country were up 10 percent in November _ the second full month of sales _ compared to the year before, according to Autodata Corp. Dodge Grand Caravan sales fell 6 percent, a drop Chrysler blamed on the elimination of the shorter, lower-priced Dodge Caravan model. Still, that was a better performance than August, when sales of the aging Caravan and Grand Caravan were down 28 percent.

Chrysler said to be mulling huge changes

DETROIT Chrysler LLC, looking to return to profitability by 2009, is considering massive branding changes that would further simplify the product portfolio while helping to cut as many as 1,000 dealers. A plan now being discussed calls for Chrysler dealers to sell all of the auto maker’s passenger cars under the Chrysler name.

Chrysler Sales Outside North America Surpass 2006 Total

As indicated by the Middle East performance, Jeep brand sales continued to be strong, with an increase of 14 percent year-to-date (88,009 units) outside North America. Dodge brand sales continued to grow at an accelerated pace as well. Sales for the brand exceeded 50,000 units so far in 2007, and have roughly doubled last year’s sales during the same time period. Chrysler brand sales have declined for the year, but sales for some Chrysler models have been increasing rapidly.
