VW unveils minivan … made by Chrysler

Although the Routan will have a Chrysler frame, engine and transmission, it won’t share Chrysler features such as swiveling seats. But it will have Volkswagen-engineered steering and suspension. It will also have the German automaker’s interior and exterior styling, Volkswagen said. The 2009 Routan will go on sale this fall starting at less than $25,000, the company said. The Routan will start with a 3.8-liter V-6 engine and an available 4-liter V-6 for more power.

Chrysler reveals new green concepts at Detroit

The ecoVoyager’s front wheels are driven by an electric motor, with power primarily supplied by a lithium-ion battery pack capable of satisfying a consumer’s typical daily commute of less than 40 miles. The electric motor develops 200 kilowatts (268 horsepower), enabling acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in less than eight seconds. A regenerative braking system captures energy that would normally be lost and returns it to the battery, making the Chrysler ecoVoyager concept a very efficient vehicle.

Chrysler Headed to Greener Pastures

Chrysler unveiled its Jeep Renegade at the Detroit auto show Monday. The concept car is an electric car with Bluetec diesel technology to extend its range. Driving mostly in electric mode, the car gets up to 110 miles per gallon.

I think Chrysler is doing a great job. I m a little worried about a merger with Nissan. They don t really have anything to offer Chrysler. Everyone I know that has had a Nissan has had Major problems with there quality and dealership service. If a truck is to be built, they better have Dodge build it in one of their factories. The actually know how to build a truck of that nature. Nissan should dump the SUV QX and Armada.

Chrysler Moves Up Timetable for Redesign of Sebring/Avenger

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. Supplier sources familiar with the product cycle plans at Chrysler tell Inside Line that the automaker is “trying to move investment up” in the effort to improve the Sebring , Avenger and Sebring Convertible even earlier than originally planned. Look for interiors on those three key vehicles to be redone in time for the 2010 model year or shortly thereafter. “The interiors are too cheap,” said one highly placed industry source.
