Chrysler 300C SRT gets diesel

February 15th, 2008

This is the new Chrysler 300C SRT-Design; the first diesel model to wear the SRT badge. It will be available as a saloon or Touring model, and boasts many of the SRT features, including 20-inch alloys, body kit and chrome mesh grille. The inside also reflects the theme, with steering wheel, carbonfibre detailing and leather sports seats straight out the of the 425bhp, 6.1-litre V8 SRT-8.

Sadly, the engine remains the same 3.0-litre V6 diesel unit as in the current 300C CRD, and it’ll set you back ВЈ32,495 for the saloon, or ВЈ32,245 for the estate - ВЈ5000 over the standard model. The SRT-Design also features the upgrades being applied to all 2008 300C models. These include integrated rear spoiler, new rear fascia and light clusters. The cabin gets a facelift, too, featuring new instruments panel and centre console, as well as a new darker interior colour.

More importantly, the cup holders now have their very own LED lighting system. The 300C has been a huge success for Chrysler, with the 3.0 V6 CRD model retaining its value better than the majority of its class contenders. Subtle though the upgrades seem, a facelift and a sporting version of the best-selling 300C CRD can only improve on the success.
