VW Taps Chrysler Design for First American Van

February 12th, 2008

The Chrysler got your versatility award due to flexible seating, stow and go, swivel and go, removable table, movable center console. VW got none of that. It’s identical to the Chrysler, minus the innovation, keeps the unreliability, and adds wood paneling to the dash. Is that a success?

VW could have made this van to look more different from the Dodge Vans, by adding a little retro styling to satisfy more VW fans. Add a row of small square windows behind the B pillar would be a good start. It could be done using the same window glass, but adding fake window trim to give it a different look.

How about oval tail lights, and baby moon hub caps. The van should get that 2nd row swivel seat option with the table, which was kind of a VW idea in the first place. Maybe a rear seat that folds into a bed would be a nice option as well.
