TVs and DVD players a draw for Chrysler minivans

“There are also two DVD players and two video screens available,” Miller said. “One person could watch a DVD while someone else plays an Xbox video game on the other screen.” Also available is Sirius Backseat TV, which features live television broadcasts via satellite. Channel offerings include Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and the Disney Channel.

A 115-volt electrical outlet available in the minivans can power such small electrical items as notebook computers, game systems and cell phone chargers. Another option is the “MyGIG Multimedia Infotainment System,” which can store up to 20 gigabytes of music, photos or other data. The 2008 Grand Caravan and Town and Country are also available with new 253-horsepower, four-liter V6 engines and six-speed automatic transmissions.

The new engine provides more than 50 additional horsepower, but achieves the same fuel economy as the smaller 3.8-liter engine, Miller said. Continual refinement of the Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town and Country minivans has made them perennial top sellers, he said. “Chrysler’s minivans have been the best selling minivans in the United States for several years running,” Miller said. “People know they can expect great things from these vehicles.

“My mom, for example, has owned these minivans since I was a kid,” he said. “She doesn’t want anything else even though she no longer has kids at home.” Chrysler says the prices of the 2008 Grand Caravan and Town and Country are lower than those of the comparable 2007 models, even though the 2008 minivans have additional standard features worth about $2,300. Prices for the 2008 Town and Country range from $23,190 for the base LX model to $36,400 for the Limited.
