Toxic Chrysler death wish Gord Henderson,

October 28th, 2008

They are likely also the ones who are first in line for handouts from the United Way and other agencies. Are these jerks capable of rational thought? If the Chrysler plant and other automotive plants were to close, you can be sure that a substantial source of funding for the United Way and other charities will suddenly dry up to the point where these jerks won’t have a line to stand in for their next handout.

They can then contemplate th old proverb “Be careful what you wish for, you might just get it.” Clarify a Few Things Thu, Oct 23, 08 at 07:47 AM I don’t believe anyone is wishing ill will on any individual within Chrysler but from a Macro perspective, yes, i do wish for the failure of Chrysler and yes for the minivan assembly as well. My thoughts stem from a FAR LONGER memory than the “…last three years…” you refer to Gord.

My time goes back to the days of my grandfather starting at Chrysler as a janitor (and then retiring after 40 years as an Executive and a home dinner from Iacoca) and all the stress he went thru with the ups and downs of this company in Windsor. My memory continues to today with my family working in the assembly plant, having dropped out of high school to take jobs there due to their short term thinking.

That place has always been a roller coaster for 3 generations that I now have experienced first hand and the stress and turmoil that resulted within the family were NOT worth it. But what other option did Windsor offer? The city has been SO “addicted” to automotive for my 44 years that every mayor since I can remember talks about diversifying from auto but then when in office does NOTHING substantial, because this auto drug is too strong.
